Mission statement:

The aim of this group is to explore the theory and practice of linked data, with the goal of creating a collaborative environment in which to develop and share training opportunities and resources.

Key themes of group:

Learning together, collaboration (with each other and with other groups), sharing, training. 

Current Scope:

  • First: cataloguing/metadata staff (decided at November 2016 meeting)

  • Ongoing:
    • Reach out to other groups - we are all on other groups. Let's chat in our meetings!
    • How do we make more space to experiment? 
  • For March 2018: we're nearly done a lot of things, let's just get them off our list:

      • Elevator Pitches **Done!**
      • FAQ page with translation live on site - final touches just working on reordering with Franco Group
      • Toolkit creation - phase one is restructuring current content on the CLDI site (restructuring is nearly done: training resources is done; rest is TBA)
  • For June 2018:
    • Finish First Module slides and test live We did it! Yay team!
    • MOVING TO NEXT Goals:
      • Modify content for online module and produce
        • Investigate possibility of interactive components to go along with modules (videos, quizzes)

Goals

  • For December 2017:
    • Design basic session plan for institutions to use
    • Starting to compile content for online modules
    • Investigating possibility of interactive components to go along with modules (videos, quizzes)
  • Develop set of best practices for linked data We have action items!!
    • For Feb meeting we will go through our resources and identify gaps
  • FROM SUMMIT outreach/strategy: elevator pitches, overall communication strategy
    • we have started elevator pitches (yay)

    • also think of how to get resources - apply for funding for staff (students, practicum, etc).

  • Finding a focus for the next 6 months, next 12 months
    • in progress - committed to building core references and principles first, then build sessions in future (likely with other groups)
    • will revisit as necessary. Six-month check in? 
  • Determining who can commit to what tasks
    • on an ongoing basis, depending on project 
  • Core documentation for linked data resources, tools:
    • built training resources page, bibliography page, sharing other resources on appropriate pages as appropriate
  • Breaking down and selecting main topics in LD that we would like to cover
    • decided on December 14 2015 to make an online brainstorm to work this out
